Lauren Frasciello
Hamilton, MD, FACOG
Dr. Hamilton was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in Princeton Jct., New Jersey. She is the granddaughter of Italian and Hungarian immigrants. Arriving with only their hard work and dedication to their families proved to be a great influence on Dr. Hamilton and laid the foundation for her desire to study medicine.
She attended Goucher College in Towson, Maryland where she held many leadership positions. She went on to obtain a Master of Science in Anatomy from the University of Maryland. She fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a physician by attending Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. She completed her residency at the Medical University of South Carolina where she was the administrative chief resident. She was awarded the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists Excellence in Laparoscopy Award.
Dr. Hamilton joined Charleston OB/GYN in 1997. She enjoys caring for women of all ages but her favorite part of her career is having the privilege to watch her patients grow and change throughout their lives. She enjoys getting to know her patients on a personal level and wants to know how their physical health is affecting their emotional wellbeing. It is her goal to help patients achieve their best in all aspects of their lives. Her special interests include obstetrics, vaginal surgery, and laparoscopic surgery. She is married and has two daughters.
Denise Devine, MD, FACOG
Dr. Denise Devine was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. She graduated from Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. She then returned to Louisville to attend The University of Louisville School of Medicine. Following completion of her medical degree, she moved to Columbia, South Carolina for her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Devine was the Administrative Chief Resident during her senior year.
Following completion of her medical training in 2000, Dr. Devine moved to Charleston, South Carolina to begin private practice, where she is proud to be a partner at Charleston OB/GYN. She loves the rich history of the group as well as the honor of treating multiple generations of many families. Dr. Devine is board certified and a member of the American College of OB/GYN and the South Carolina Medical Association. She has a special interest in obstetrics, gynecologic surgery, adolescent gynecology and general health and wellness counseling.
Dr. Devine is active in the local tennis community participating in USTA league tennis and is most proud of her state mixed doubles championship. She also enjoys staying fit through running and cycling, having completed 2 half marathons as well as the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon with Team in Training. She is happily married with two sons and resides on Daniel Island.
William Stanley Ottinger, MD, FACOG
Dr. Ottinger is originally from Charlotte, North Carolina. He received his BS from Presbyterian College, his MD from Medical University of South Carolina and went on to perform his internship/residency also at MUSC. He is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, a member of the Charleston County Medical Society, a Fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
Dr. Ottinger has been very instrumental in bringing state of the art gynecological surgery to the Charleston area. His special interests include urogynecology, advanced minimally invasive gynecological procedures for abnormal bleeding and pain. These procedures include endometrial ablation, advanced laparoscopy, including da Vinci robotic surgery. Dr. Ottinger has trained many area physicians on advanced minimally invasive procedures and strives to offer cutting edge technology for his patients. Some of Dr. Ottinger’s hobbies include fishing, boating, and snow skiing. He is happily married and is the father of two daughters.
Heidi M. Sapp, MD, FACOG
Dr. Sapp grew up in a rural farming community in Iowa. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Winona State University in Minnesota. After college, she volunteered at an orphanage in Brazil before attending medical school at the University of Iowa. During medical school, she traveled to Kenya and Ecuador on medical mission trips.
She completed her OB/GYN residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. During residency, she received the Golden Apple Teaching Award, the Faculty Excellence Teaching Award, the H. Oliver Williamson Award for excellence in Gynecology, and she was the Chief Resident of Administration.
Dr. Sapp joined Charleston OB/GYN in 2008. Her interests are in medical missions, endocrine disorders, and laparoscopic surgery. She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the South Carolina Medical Association and the Christian Medical and Dental Association. She is married and has three daughters.
Monica J. Mitchum, MD
Dr. Mitchum grew up on James Island and graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2009 with a degree in Chemistry and a minor in Medical Ethics. She went on to obtain her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed her residency training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.
Dr. Mitchum has special interest in minimally invasive surgery. She is certified in Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery and received the Excellence in Minimally Invasive Surgery Award amongst her residency colleagues. She also has special interest in adolescent gynecology and loves obstetrics!
She and her husband, Phillip, love the outdoors. In her time away from the hospital, you can find her out on the water, camping, running or spending time with her family.
Elizabeth A. Richardson, MD
Dr. Richardson was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. She received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and completed medical school at the University of Nevada, Reno. She and her family then relocated to the southeast where she completed Obstetric and Gynecology residency at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine in Knoxville. While in residency, she served as the administrative chief resident and received numerous awards, including the award for Outstanding Minimally Invasive Surgery Resident, the Outstanding Urogynecology Resident, and the Outstanding Resident Research Award.
Dr. Richardson then fulfilled her family’s dream of relocating to Charleston (where her husband was previously stationed with the Navy) and her dream of joining a distinguished private practice, like Charleston OB/GYN. She is fluent in Spanish and has special interests in obstetrics, minimally invasive surgery, including da Vinci robotic surgery and vaginal hysterectomies, as well as evaluating and treating pelvic pain disorders.
Dr. Richardson is married with one son. She enjoys spending time with her family, exercising, and competing in obstacle course races.
Dr. Jessica Wade
Dr. Wade grew up both in France and Georgia. She initially moved to South Carolina to attend Clemson University. There, she was a scholar in the distinguished National Scholars Program. She graduated with honors with a degree in biological sciences and a minor in global politics. She then obtained her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed her residency at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, NC.
Dr. Wade’s professional interests include minimally invasive pelvic surgery, all facets of obstetrics, and global medicine. She strives to practice evidence-based medicine and provide an environment where every patient feels understood and cared for.
Dr. Wade and her husband, Drayton, are enjoying being back in the Lowcountry and closer to family and friends. They love exploring Charleston’s food scene, attending Clemson football games, gardening, skiing, and traveling the world!
Dr. Mai Dyer
Dr. Mai Dyer was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health Science and Master’s in Public Health degree from the University of Georgia. She worked for two years at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta before continuing her education at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora, CO. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Prisma Health-University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, where she won several awards including the Award for Excellence in Obstetrics, Outstanding Resident in Minimally Invasive Surgery, and the Award for Excellence in Family Planning.
Dr. Dyer is proud to join the esteemed practice of Charleston OB/GYN, where she plans to continue the tradition of providing high quality, patient-centered care. She has special interests in obstetrics, adolescent gynecology, and minimally invasive surgery.
Dr. Dyer lives on James Island with her husband, dog, and cat. When she is not at work, you can find her cooking, reading a book, or enjoying the outdoors.
Jen Winkler, MSN, CNM
Jen was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She attended Clemson University and graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2013. She moved back to south Louisiana and worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) in both a Cardio-thoracic Stepdown Unit and Labor & Delivery (L&D) Unit in New Orleans. She then completed her Master of Science in Nursing in 2018, specializing in Nurse-Midwifery, from Frontier Nursing University. While working on her master’s, Jen continued working as an L&D RN at both Roper St. Francis and the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Jen obtained her accreditation to practice through the American Midwifery Certification Board in 2018.
Jen has been practicing as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) since 2019. She has experience in both active and expectant management of labor. Jen’s joy in her job as a CNM stems from the midwifery philosophy of being “with woman.” This includes caring for women through all aspects of life including pre-conception, prenatal care, labor/delivery, postpartum, and routine GYN/contraception management. Jen is very passionate about patient education and shared decision-making with her patients.
Jen and her fiancé Joe recently moved to Charleston. They are incredibly active and enjoy the beach, spending time with family, trying new restaurants, and cooking gourmet meals together at home. You can find them spoiling their dachshund Bacchus, named after the god of wine.
